Phoenix Noir Rising

When Ms. L came for her Boudoir Experience, she had the most unique outfits I’d ever seen! She unpacked a bag of these incredible stage outfits, for lack of a better term. They were full of fringe, sparkles and they created the most incredible movement I’ve ever seen.

Now, you might be thinking, is this even really a boudoir shoot? It sure is! Because boudoir sessions are about how you feel, not about a particular outfit. Dig in - can you see her story? Can you see all the different emotions in these images?

Sometimes, ya gotta get a little theatrical. Sometimes, only body-length fringe will do! This outfit is everything! I love the movement we captured in these boudoir portraits. This turned out to be the perfect metaphor for Ms. L’s life. Lots of transitions in her life - lots of rising like a phoenix - lots of strength, courage and love. She’s such an elegant lady, too. These sessions always turn out a bit therapeutic, a bit cathartic, a bit of a celebration and affirmation.

Ms. L also had these super cool metal jewelry pieces for her fingers that were just A. Whole. Vibe. Coupled with her hair, beautiful skin and incredible expressive eyes, she knocked these portraits out of the park. Peep the Gucci lingerie. Stunning.

All in all, I think Ms. L even surprised herself. I think she both saw that she was strong and beautiful and loving and loved and I think she surprised herself as to what extent she was all of those things. Now she has some beautiful large wall art adorning her home and every time she walks past one of these portraits, she remembers who she is, straightens her crown, and stands a bit taller. That’s the power of portraiture.
